Ricksons was started in 1975 by Stuart Rickson. He began selling rugs on the markets in Yorkshire and worked his way up and down the country stall by stall, until he reached Dumfries and decided to stop travelling. Fifty-one years later the business is still here and still family-run.
We started out on the Whitesands, moved to Rosefield Mills, and have been at 79 New Abbey Road ever since. A fair few customers still remember buying from us at one of the old shops.
Our staff aren't paid commission. Nobody here earns more by talking you into a dearer carpet, which means the advice you get is about your room rather than the margin — tell us the space, the budget and how much traffic it gets, and we'll tell you straight what will last.
We carry stock rather than ordering everything in, so you can put your hand on a carpet before you buy it. Measuring and quotes are free, across Dumfries & Galloway.
